In Loving Memory of John “Bart” Moar

1935 – 2024

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of John “Bart” Barclay Moar, husband of the late Mary Louise (McGrath) Moar of the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on March 3, 2024, at the age of 88.

Born in Chatham, on August 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Vince and Laura (Maher) Moar.  He was the last surviving member of his family.

Bart was a Life Insurance Agent for many years.  He started with Metropolitan Life and then ended with Sunlife.  He attended St. Michael’s Basilica.

Bart was a life-long resident of the Miramichi.  He had a passion for life and especially his family who was his number one priority.  Always looking out for his children and grandchildren.  He truly loved and enjoyed going to Tim Hortons to spend time with the staff and his friends.  It was a highlight of his day.

Bart is survived by his daughter, Kim DeLong (Bob) of Saint John; his sons: Jay Moar (Carmen) of Miramichi, Todd Moar (Kathy) of Bedford, NS, and Chris Moar of Moncton, NB; eight grandchildren: Josh (Mandy) of Moncton, NB, Jason of Halifax, NS, Jeremy of Miramichi, Quinn (Robyn) of Moncton, Brady of Moncton, Gillian of Bedford, NS, Cole of Miramichi, and Rory of Bedford, NS; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Mary Louise Moar; two sisters: Mitzi Harrow, and Honey Steinhofer, and brother, Hugh.

The family would like to say thank you to the Doctors and Staff at Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care they gave to Bart.

By Bart’s request there will be no visitation.  A private family only service was held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel on March 6, 2024 at 2 pm with The Reverend Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant.  Music for the service was recorded music and the hymns were "Be Not Afraid" by John Michael Talbot, "Psalm 23" by Shane & Shane and the recessional hymn was "Here I Am, Lord" by John Michael Talbot.  The scripture readings were read by granddaughter, Rory and the eulogy was given by grandson, Cole.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.
