In Loving Memory of John J. Godin

1955 - 2025  

 

John Joseph Godin of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital with Jeanne by his side at the age of 70.

 

Born in Caraquet, New Brunswick, on November 24, 1955, he was the son of the late Adolphe and Theresa (Duplessie) Godin.  John worked as a Custodian, Carpenter and handyman.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, hunting, fishing and being in the great outdoors.  

 

He will be greatly missed by his loving partner, Jeanne of Miramichi, New Brunswick; loved and missed by his son, John Jr. Walace Godin and step-son, Lawrence; one brother, Joe (Barb) Godin; three sisters: Dianne (Skipper) Vautor, Rose Mary (Edward) Lamb and Rena (Gilbert) Kent and several nieces and nephews, Tanya, Cole and Autumn.  He is predeceased by his parents and one brother, Roger (Angela) Godin.

 

In keeping with John’s wishes, there was no visitation.  A Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, New Brunswick on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 4:00 pm with The Reverend Father David Rioux as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by Jacqueline Allain and the hymns were "Here I Am Lord", "The Lord Is My Shepherd", "The Old Rugged Cross", "Lamb Of God", "Songs Of The Angels" and "I Want To Stroll Over Heaven With You".  The scripture readings was read by Jeannine Gorman.  The urn was carried by John's partner Jeanne Robichaud.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring of 2026.

 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi SPCA would be greatly appreciated by the family.

 

The family would like to thank all the staff of 4 East and 4 West, all the doctor’s and nurse’s who took great care of John.  Dr. MacGillivray, Dr. Finn, Dr. LeBreton, Dr. Breau and New Brunswick Extra Mural for your excellent care.

 

John will be greatly missed by those who knew him and loved him.
