Joseph "Joe" Patrick Holland of Black River Bridge, NB, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at the age of 55.
Born in Chatham, NB, on November 28, 1968, he was the son of the late Austin “Buddy” and Patricia (Murdoch) Holland. Joe worked as a Striping Supervisor for the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.
Joe is survived by his wife Joyce (Dick) Holland; two sons: Jeremy Holland (Jessica) of Black River Bridge, and Jordan Holland (Stacy) of Glenwood; chosen daughter, Kamryn Nowlan (AKA Gertie) of Redmondville; mother-in-law, Dorothy Dick of Black River Bridge; one grandchild, Austin Patrick; and five chosen grandchildren: Bree, Mandy, Anna-Belle, Charlie, and Zack; sister, Susan Holland (Terry) of Glenwood; as well as his large extended family from DTI. He was predeceased by his parents and father-in-law, George Dick.
As per Joe’s request, there was no visitation. A Funeral Service occurred at St. Stephen’s United Church, 7970 Route 117, Black River Bridge on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at 1 PM, with The Reverend David Allan officiating. Music for the service was recorded music and the songs were: "Outskirts Of Heaven", "Humble & Kind", "Never Alone", with the recessional song being "Jealous of the Angels". Elder Warren Brown played an Honour Song for Joe. The Eulogy was presented by Ashley Walsh, and two poems "The Dash" and "As I Sit In Heaven" was read by The Reverend Keith Carter. The Honorary Pallbearers were: Darren Taylor, Mike McIntyre, Gary MacDonald, Teddy MacDonald, Sheldon Russell, Bas Martin, Pat Holland, Nicholas Walsh, Kaleb Doyle MacDonald, Greg Cook, Dylan Hachey, and Michel Pitre. Also, a large group from The DTI Striping Crew sat as a body and formed a Guard of Honour following of the service. Interment was in Black River Community Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Stephen’s United Church would be appreciated by the family.
