In Loving Memory of June A. Thompson
1940 – 2023
June Adelle Thompson of Napan, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on October 2, 2023, at the age of 83.
Born in Newcastle, NB, on June 23, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Byron and Arlene (MacInnis) Sweezey. June was a Social Worker for most of her working career and spent many years working at the Transition House for Women in Miramichi before retiring. She was known as a dedicated worker who cared for her clients as well as her colleagues who valued her advice. She was a member of Carmel United Church.
June is survived by her son, Brad Thompson (Carmeline) of Napan; three grandchildren: Alisha, Lauren and Eric; one sister, Patricia Simmons (Charles) of St. Albert, AB; two brothers: Carl Sweezey (Marjorie) of Moncton, and Garth Sweezey (Jane) of Napan Bay; four nieces: Cheryl, Jennifer, Christine, and Ellen; and two nephews: Jared and Michael. She was predeceased by her parents and beloved son, Gregory.
June lived in Toronto for many of her adult years and brought a vibrancy and charisma with her wherever she went. She was quick-witted and young at heart. She loved her family dearly and fiercely celebrating every special occasion with a gathering and a meal. She loved her grandchildren, nieces and nephews like they were her own children.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Monday, October 9th, 2023 from 6-9 PM. A private graveside service was held at Black River Community Cemetery.
Words can’t express the appreciation for the kindness, compassion and care shown to June by Dr. Losier as well as the Staff at Miramichi Regional Hospital. Special mention to Holly who took care of June in the last year of her life. Thank you!
