In Loving Memory of Karen Barton
1959 – 2025
Karen Adele Barton (Hickey) of Angus, Ontario, passed away on December 23, 2025, at the age of 66. Karen was a beautiful, kind lady, and beloved wife of Terry Barton. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Karen was born on November 12, 1959, in Trenton, Ontario. She was the cherished daughter of George Hickey (passed away on August 31, 2018) and Cecilia Hickey (Richard).
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by sons, Kyle of Angus, Ontario, Corey of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Whitney of Lions Head, Ontario; her sister, Sandy (Mike) of Cow Bay, Nova Scotia; and adopted sister and best friend, Brenda Jones of Miramichi, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by her father.
Karen was a lover of animals, especially her dogs. She was an avid bingo player and so gladly volunteered at the Chatham Legion and Knights of Columbus.
Karen was an avid practitioner of the art of quilling which was more than a hobby. It was an expression of her gentle spirit and the care that she put into everything that she touched.
Wherever Karen went she brought her love of people, her kindness, generosity and compassion towards everyone that she met. Though her life was much shorter than what we wished, she will be so greatly missed and will live on in the hearts of so many. May the wonderful memories you have of Karen bring light and comfort in the days ahead.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with The Reverend Father Antonio Reyes, and The Reverend Father David Rioux as Celebrants. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place, Hope For Wildlife or Miramichi SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick, telephone (506) 773-3492. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.adams.ca
