Karen L. Kaiser Obituary
In Loving Memory of Karen L. Kaiser
1943 – 2025
Karen Louise Kaiser of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Percy’s Place on June 2, 2025, at the age of 82.
Karen was born on April 27, 1943, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Wood. During her formative years she studied piano as well as Highland dancing and piping, and was one of the 100 Pipers at the opening of the Canso Causeway between Cape Breton and Nova Scotia in 1955. While with the Nova Scotia Gaelic College Pipe band she toured Quebec, Ontario, and all the New England States.
Karen graduated from the Glace Bay General Hospital School of Nursing, and during her career nursed in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, and British Columbia. During this time, she was the director of music for many churches including St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Miramichi, and St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Bay du Vin. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion and unwavering faith in God. In her quiet way she opened the possibility of having a faith in God as a perfect way to live life to more than a few individuals.
Karen is survived by her husband, Emerson; daughters: Laurel (Wendy Wilson – Laurel’s soul mate and partner), Claudia Kaiser and Elaine (Scott) McKeagan; sister, Debi (Glen) McCullough of Oyama, British Columbia; and brother, Lewis (Marsha) Wood of Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Natasha (Otis) Kao, Stephanie (David) Kao, Shamus Kao, Kenzie Kao, Mitchell Kaiser, Larry and Brenda Mullins, Jessie (Rachel) Mullins, Noah McKeagan, Liam McKeagan; and great-granddaughter, Lilly Mullins. She was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Joan.
In her leisure time she loved nature and camping, which allowed her to follow her real passion of bird watching and identification of a great many species as we traveled across Canada. During this time, she also took up watercolor painting and drawing which filled many delightful winter leisure hours.
Karen was a source of light and love for so many. She has created a strong legacy and will forever be remembered in the hearts and souls of those who loved and admired her.
