In Loving Memory of Linda M. Blakely

1948 – 2024

Linda Mary Blakely, wife of John Blakely of Miramichi, NB, passed away at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home on May 6, 2024, at the age of 75.

Born in Newcastle, NB, on May 13, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Margaret (Wormell) Hardy. She worked as a Pastry Cook at Hotel Dieu Hospital in Chatham. Linda’s passion was baking and she loved to share her creations with all of her family and friends.

Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband, John Blakely; daughter, Kim Williston (Ellot) of Rothesay, NB; son, John Blakely of Saint John, NB; two granddaughters: Jenna Brien (Michael) of Quispamsis, NB, and Katelyn Williston (Chris) of Rothesay, NB; two grandsons: Justin Blakely (Katie Anne) and Aaron Blakely of Saint John, NB; two great-grandchildren: Nolan and Myles Brien; three sisters: Becky Clark (Wayne) of Napan, Margaret Scott (Cory) of BC, and Kathleen Hardy of Miramichi; three brothers: Mike Hardy and Ron Hardy (Joanne) both of Miramichi, and Andy Hardy (Heidi) of Napan; as well as many nieces and nephews; and also by special friends: Brenda Williams, Lois Maclean, Gail Nowlan and Shirley Graves; as well as her little dog, Lucy.

She was predeceased by her parents and three brothers: Johnny Hardy, Bobby and Jerry Tozer.

The family would like to thank the Nursing Staff and Doctor at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home for the kindness and care they showed Linda throughout her stay. Their compassion went above and beyond.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Friday evening, May 10, 2024, from 6-8 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St. Miramichi on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11 AM, with The Reverend Father David Rioux as Celebrant.  Music Ministry for the service was provided by David Bunnell, and the St. Michael's Basilica Choir.  Words of Remembrance were spoken by Ron Hardy.  The First Scripture Reading was by Jenna Brien.  The Intercessory Prayer was by Amy Gregan. The Honarary Pallbearers were:  Brenda Williams, Lois MacLean, Barb Kelly, and Bernadette Gouchie.  Interment was in St. Michael’s Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home would be appreciated by the family.
