In Loving Memory of Lloyd Mills
1929 – 2026
Lloyd John Mills of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on April 15, 2026, at the age of 96 years.
Born in Bay du Vin, New Brunswick, on December 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Burt and Charlotte “Lottie” (Williston) Mills. Lloyd was a painter by trade and a member of St. Stephen’s United Church, and church choir for many years.
Lloyd is survived by his son-in-law, Ludger Cormier of Miramichi, New Brunswick; his three grandchildren: Christine Adams (Cory) of Quispamsis, New Brunswick, Nancy Buggie (Justin) of Upper Derby, New Brunswick, and Greg Corcoran (Alex) of Miramichi, New Brunswick; his seven great-grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Matthew, Jack, Bret, Ryan, and Brody; and his great-great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Jackie Tozer of Miramichi, New Brunswick; as well as his nieces and nephews. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Velna (Gilliss) Mills; his daughter, Heather Cormier; his son, Garth Mills, his sisters, Marjorie and Blanche; and his brothers, Bliss, Garth, and Jasper.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gerard Losier and all the staff of the Miramichi Regional Hospital, especially 3 East.
At the request of the family, there was no visitation. A funeral service was held at St. Stephen’s United Church, 7970 Route 117, Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Ivan Gregan as officiant. Music for the service was provided by David Mann and the Loggieville-Black River joint choir. The hymns included "Abide with Me", "Let the Lower Lights be Burning", and "Blessed Assurance". Interment will take place in Black River Community Cemetery, Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Stephen’s United Church would be appreciated by the family.
