In Loving Memory of Lorain Irving


1936 – 2026

 

Margaret “Lorain” Irving of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Percy’s Place on February 28, 2026, at the age of 89.

 

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on June 18, 1936.  Lorain was a secretary for Dr. Gerard Losier for many years.  She was a member of St. Michael’s Basilica, C.W.L., and Ladies Auxillary.

 

Lorain is survived by her daughter, Alana Hansen (Randy) of Miramichi, New Brunswick; her son, Greg Irving (Shelley) of Waterloo, Ontario; four grandchildren: Bridget, Alyssa (Logan), Ashlee, and Kelsey (Walker); four great-grandchildren: Braxton, Kade, Wylder, and Novi; nephews, Fr. John, Kevin and Terry Keoughan; and niece, Karla Keoughan; as well as special family member, David Olsen, whom she saw as her brother.  She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Irving, Godchild, Laurie, and nephews, Edward, Donnie, and Karsten.

 

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Father John Fraser as celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by Mr. David Bunnell and the St. Michael's Choir.  The hymns were "Here I Am Lord", "Rest In God Alone", "Prayer of St. Francis", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Songs of the Angels", and "Ashoken Farewell".  The scripture readings were read by Shelley Miller-Irving, and Ann Rendell.  The Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Shelley Miller-Irving, and the eulogy was presented by Kelsey Hansen.

 

The honorary pallbearers were David Olsen, Ann Rendell, Bruce Rendell, George MacDonald, Mary Noel, Maura McCluskey, Margie Olsen, and Shirley Barry.  Pallbearers were Shannon Keoughan, Bernard Keoughan, Walker Campbell, and Logan Hartlen.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring.

 

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff at Percy’s Place who cared for Mom with such compassion and warmth. She had an unwavering strength that carried her through life, and we are deeply thankful you honored that strength with such respectful and tender care. In a very short time, you made us feel like family. Your kindness and dedication during her final days will never be forgotten.

 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place or Ray & Lorain Irving Fund at St. Thomas University would be appreciated by the family.
