Lorraine G. Gammon Obituary

Lorraine Gillis Gammon

         1944 – 2023

It is with great sadness that we regret to announce the death of Lorraine Gillis Gammon, wife of the late Keith P. Gammon of Miramichi, New Brunswick, who passed away suddenly at her residence on February 12, 2023, at the age of 79.

Born in Chatham, NB, on February 5, 1944, Lorraine was the daughter of both the late Frank and Hannah (Jardine) MacKnight.  She was an RNA at Miramichi Senior Citizens Home for 25 years.  She was also a part of the faith community at St. Andrew's United Church.  Mom was a gentle and loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother ("Nannie").  Her love for her family was above all.  We take comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of our Dad, Keith.

Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Creamer (John) of Miramichi; two sons:  Stephen (Tracy), and Daryl Gammon, both of Miramichi; five grandchildren:  Brittany (Roger), Sarah (Hunter), Mason (Courtney), Sydney (Shane), and Jaiden; as well as one brother, John MacKnight (Rev. Charlene).  Besides her parents and husband, Keith, Lorraine is predeceased by her siblings:  Don, Dave, Erma, Edwin, Margaret, Eunice, Richard, Mary, and Lorraine’s twin sister, Lois.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 6-8 PM.  A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at St. Andrew’s United Church at 11 AM, with The Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight as Officiant.  Music for the service was provided by Lois McKinnon and the St. Andrew's United Church Choir.  The hymns were:  "How Great Thou Art", "In the Bulb There is a Flower", and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", with the recessional being "God Be With You Till We Meet Again".  The lighting of the Memory Candles was by granddaughters: Brittany, and Sarah.  All the grandchildren participated in the Placing of Roses.  A special poem "When Tomorrow Starts Without Me" was read by granddaughter, Sydney.  "Memories of Nannie" were presented by Brittany and Sarah.  Scripture readings were read by nieces: Roxanne MacKnight and Carolyn MacKnight Bent.  The Active Pallbearers were:  Mason Gammon, Roger Shurb, Shane Arbeau, Mason Guimond, Allen Daigle, and Mike Dickinson.  The interment will be in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, NB Extra-Mural, Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St. Miramichi, NB, telephone 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
