Mae (Stephenson) Morehouse
March 31, 1934 - July 11, 2020
Anna Mae Morehouse, wife of the late Leigh A. Morehouse passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the age of 86.
Born in the former town of Chatham, NB on March 31, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Stewart) Stephenson.
Mae is survived by sons: Colin (Rachel) of Ottawa, ON, Neil (Alexandra) of Halifax, NS, Brent (Natalee) of Miramichi; and sister, Sally Davidson of Miramichi. She was “Grammie” to Ryan (Robin), Autumn (Genevieve), Alex (Zoe), MacKenzie, Kamryn, Nina, and Björn; and affectionately known as “G.G.” by great-granddaughter Sloane. Mae is also survived by special family friend, Michael Daigle. She is predeceased by her parents Charles and Elizabeth; sisters: Beulah, Eleanor, Clora, Lillian; and brothers: Hugh, Maxie, Bill, and George.
She was a Homemaker, Follower-of-God, Loyal Friend, Poet, Baker, Entertainer, and Volunteer.
So much to so many, above all a child of God and much loved!

At the family’s request, there was no visitation. Due to COVID-19 regulations, a private funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 188 Wellington St. Miramichi on Wednesday July 15th, 2020 at 2:30 PM, conducted by The Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Music for the service was provided by organist Lois McKinnon and vocalists: Elvina Sobey, Jayme Campbell and Marjorie Cassidy. Musical selections by the vocalists were: "I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry", "On Eagle's Wings", and "Jesus, You Have Come to the Lakeshore", with the recessional musical postlude being "God Be with You till We Meet Again." Words of Remembrance were given by Colin Morehouse, and scripture readings were read by Natalee Morehouse, Esther Swaine, Björn and Neil Morehouse. Interment was held in the Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Miramichi Regional Hospital for their wonderful care over the past few months. The family would also like to thank The Rev. Charlene Maguire-MacKnight, organist Lois McKinnon, and vocalists: Elvina Sobey, Jayme Campbell, and Marjorie Cassidy for their contributions to a beautiful service.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Andrew’s United Church, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
