Major Michael E. Baldwin

1943 – 2021

Major Michael E. Baldwin (RCAF) passed away at the Complexe Rendez-Vous, (Nursing Home) Neguac, NB on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the age of 77, with his care team Chloe, Ghislaine, Anna Belle, and spouse Edwina at his side.

Mike was the eldest son of Clifford and Elsie (Doucet) Baldwin of Bathurst, NB.  He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Frank P. Doucet (Bathurst) and Ana Mazerolle (Tracadie, NB).

He will be dearly missed by his son, Brent of Edmonton, AB, daughter, Allison of Belle River, Windsor, ON, and their mother, Sandra McRae of Winnipeg, MB. He was loving brother to Jim (Cathy), Joe (Margie), John (Michele), Clifford, and sisters:  Eve-Ann (late Dr. Merv Connery), Margaret, and Joan.  He leaves behind nieces, nephews, many cousins, his brother-in-law,  Walter Woodman (Margaret Cooke) of Quebec, and sister-in-law, Joan Woodman Sherren (John Sherren) of Quebec.

After graduating LeBlanc High School, Bathurst in 1962, and Dawson College, Montreal, Major Mike completed a 30-year career with the RCAF.

In 2008 Mike and Edwina started long-term volunteering with Mennonite Disaster Canada, responding to disasters in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, after Katrina, flooding, wildfires, etc.  

Mike’s family members will have a private BBQ and beer, celebrating his life at a later date honoring Mike’s favorite task, BBQing for the family.  A Celebration of Life took place on May 23, 2021, at St. Marys Anglican Church, 207 Wellington St., Miramichi, NB, with The Reverend Perry Cooper as Officiant.  Music for the service was provided by Charlotte Loggie.  The hymns were: "I, the Lord of Sea and Sky", "When Peace Like a River", "Morning has Broken", and "Make us a Channel of Your Peace".  The Layreader was Karen Furlotte.  Interment will occur at St. Paul's Anglican Cemetery, Miramichi at a later date.  

As expressions of sympathy in Mike’s memory, donations may be made to the Mennonite Disaster Service, Complexe Rendez-Vous Recreation Department, or a charity of one’s choice.

Le Major Michael E. Baldwin (ARC) est décédé au Complexe Rendez-Vous, (Maison de Soins Infirmiers) Neguac, N.-B., le samedi 9 janvier 2021 à l'âge de 77 ans, avec son équipe de soins Chloé, Ghislaine, Anna Belle et son épouse Edwina à son côté.

Mike était le fils aîné de Clifford et Elsie (Doucet) Baldwin de Bathurst, NB. Les grands-parents maternels décédés Frank P. Doucet (Bathurst) et Ana Mazerolle (Tracadie, NB).

Il manquera beaucoup à son fils Brent d'Edmonton, AB, sa fille Allison de Belle River, Windsor, ON et leur mère Sandra McRae de Winnipeg, MB.  Frère bien-aimé de Jim (Cathy), Joe (Margie), John (Michele), Clifford et soeurs Eve-Ann (feu Dr. Merv Connery), Margaret et Joan. Il laisse derrière lui nièces, neveux et de nombreux cousins. Son beau-frère Walter Woodman (Margaret Cooke) du Québec et sa belle-sœur Joan Woodman Sherren (John Sherren) du Québec.

Après avoir obtenu son diplôme de l'école secondaire LeBlanc de Bathurst en 1962 et du Collège Dawson de Montréal, le Major Mike a complété une carrière de 30 ans au sein de l'ARC.

En 2008, Mike et Edwina ont commencé à faire du bénévolat à long terme avec Mennonite Disaster Canada, répondant aux catastrophes dans le Mississippi, en Louisiane, au Texas apres Katrina, des inondations, des incendies de forêt, etc.

Les membres de la famille de Mike auront un BBQ privé et de la bière, célébrant sa vie à une date ultérieure en honorant la tâche préférée de Mike, faire un BBQ pour la famille. En raison des restrictions de voyage, des funérailles chrétiennes auront lieu à l'église Anglicane St. Marys (207 Rue Wellington, Miramichi

) plus tard au printemps.

En guise d’expression de sympathie à la mémoire de Mike, des dons peuvent être faits au Mennonite Disaster Service, au Complexe Rendez-Vous Recreation Department ou à un organisme de bienfaisance de son choix.
