In Loving Memory of Margaret E. Murphy

1939 – 2024

Margaret Elizabeth Murphy of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on January 17, 2024, at the age of 84.

Born in Chatham, on April 2, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Austin and Eleanor (Sweezey) Williston.  Beloved granddaughter of the late Janet and Benjamin Sweezey and she was like an older sister to her cousins Earle and Brenda.

Margaret was a retired School Teacher, having taught grade four for most of her career.

She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bob) Murphy; as well as nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 1-2 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2 PM from Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Greer as Officiant.  Music Ministry was provided by Barbara Somers.  The congregational hymns were:  "Near To the Heart of God", "Nothing But the Blood", and "Amazing Grace".  The Honorary Pallbearers were:  Bev Reynolds, Elizabeth Flanaghan, Wendy Loggie, Joan Jardine, Hubert Sweezey, and Bill Sweezey.  The Active Pallbearers were:  Stephen Loggie, Garth Sweezey, Ozzie Williston, Ellot Williston, and Kirk Sweezey. Members of the Miramichi Area Retired Teachers Association (MARTA) were present and formed a Guard of Honor.  A reception for all was held at the funeral home reception area following the service.  Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
