In Loving Memory of Mark Anthony Manderson (B.Sc.)
January 20th, 1962 - November 15th, 2023
Mark, son of Purdy and Margaret Manderson, grew up in Bushville, Miramichi, NB, on the river, during a time when the big boats went up and down to and from the mills and the river then was mostly for that.
Mark, along with his siblings Frank, Stewart, Monica and Rosemarie, knew the river well through boating, beachcombing, swimming (though few people did back then), and winter ice-fishing, and for Mark especially, hockey on the river. Shiny games with those siblings who would.
Mark was a natural athlete engaged in track and field while at St. Thomas as he pursued his degree in science. Amongst Mark's various occupations he taught English for many years in China and Taiwan. He often spoke about riding his bike to work in China with his little dog Joey in the basket. He developed curriculum there and also taught preschoolers English through dance-like movements describing the alphabet - hard to imagine, given his huge frame.
Mark passed away peacefully at Percy’s place, surrounded with love and understanding. Thank you to Dr. Losier and all those who work there and gave so much to Mark.
A Celebration of Mark’s Life will take place at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations made to Percy’s Place, or Miramichi SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB; telephone (506) 773-3492. Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online to www.adamsfh.ca
