In Loving Memory of Mary Noel

1936 – 2026 

Mary Theresa Frances (O’Kane) Noel of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on November 25, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Deredin) O’Kane.  

Mary worked as Office Manager at St. Michael’s Basilica for 21 years.  She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, and the Mount St. Joseph Auxiliary.  She also served on Parish Council and was a member of St. Michael’s Choir for many years.

Mom was fortunate to have many family and friends who loved and cared for her.  Special thanks to Mary and Jim Bernard and family, and Judy Deredin for the unending love and support, especially in Mom’s final years.

Thanks to Joe Ross who brought Mom Holy Communion weekly and prayed with her.  Your thoughtfulness meant so much to her.  You made her feel she was part of the congregation when she could no longer attend Mass.

We also want to thank Dr. Gerard Losier, the staff on 2 West at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, and the staff at Percy’s Place for the wonderful care provided.

To Mary’s many friends who called and visited when she was no longer able to get out, we are so grateful.  You brightened her days by your thoughtfulness.

Mary is survived by her children: Teri Ann (Paul Doucette), Chris (Nanette), Michael (Connie), Raymond (Todd Stafford), and Mark (Cheryl); grandchildren: Aaron, Renee, Nicolette, and Nicholas; great-grandchildren: Weston, Isla, newborn twins Rory and Lane; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Rene; and brother, Joseph (Buddy).

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard Street, Miramichi, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Father John Fraser as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by David Bonnell, and the Saint Michael's Choir.  The processional hymn was "Here I am Lord", followed by The Lord is My Shepherd", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "On Eagles Wings", "Ava Maria", and "Song of the Angels".  The recessional hymn was "City of God".  The first scripture reading was by Ashley Bernard.  The second scripture reading was by Mary Louise Graham.  Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by JoAnn Noel Kozinski.  The Active Pallbearers were Andrew Bernard, Patrick Deredin, Ryan Deredin, Aaron Noel, Bill Noel, and Nick Noel.  Interment was held in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick. 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Michael’s Basilica, Percy’s Place, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
