Mary D. Sargent
1946 – 2022
Mary Delima Sargent of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on September 22, 2022, at the age of 75.
Born in Chatham, NB, on November 1, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Howard Sr. and Clara Matchett. She worked at the Morada Motel for many years and worked as a Room Attendant, Cook, and Clerk at the front desk. She attended St. Michael’s Basilica.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Matchett (Jeanne Irvine) of Miramichi; two sons: Donnie Prosser (Alanna) of PEI, and David Prosser (Sheila) of Moncton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three sisters: Joan LeBlanc (Blair) of Saint John, Joanne Bechard (Raymond) of Miramichi and Terry Arseneault (Joe) of Miramichi; three brothers: Bert Matchett (Doreen) of Miramichi, Herbie Matchett (Sheila) of Ontario and Elton Matchett (Dianne) of Miramichi; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Rodney “Red” Sargent; brothers: Arnold, John, Howard, and Ernie, and sisters, Florence and Marie.
At Mary’s request, there was no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Soloist/Guitarist, Mike Davis. The opening hymn was: "Here I Am Lord". Additional hymns included "Be Not Afraid", "Amazing Grace", and "Songs of the Angels". The recessional song was "Hallelujah". The First Reading was read by Wendy Leger, and the Second Reading was read by Michelle Arseneault. Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Michelle Arseneault. The Honorary Pallbearers were: Aurella Martin, Antoinette McIntyre, Ronnie Douglas, Sandra Lance, Mike Lance, Brian Carter, and Les Lewis. Interment was in St. Michael's Cemetery.
