Mary Anne Govereau Obituary

In Loving Memory of Mary Anne Govereau

1942 – 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Anne Govereau, beloved wife of Mack Govereau of Millbank, Miramichi, New Brunswick, on November 28th at the age of 82.

Born in Tracadie, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Edmond and Delina Basque. She leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years and a legacy of family who will miss her dearly: her four sons, Jerry (Gayle), David, Tony (Elaine) of Miramichi, and Kevin (Tamatha) of Moncton; and two daughters, Jackie of Miramichi, and Louise (Ron) of Moncton. She was a treasured Nana to nine grandchildren: Kevin, Michelle, Meagan, Jenna, Jamie, Austin, Mackenzie, and Molly. She was preceded in death by her precious baby granddaughter Morgan. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren: Lexi, Dawson, Rya, Owen of Ontario, and Emmett and Elliott of Miramichi, who knew her as their proud Great-Nana.

She was a strong woman who dedicated her entire life to caring for her family—her husband, parents, children, and grandchildren. Her strength of character and sense of humor helped her navigate life's challenges. Her homemade bread, meat pies, and blueberry cakes were treasured treats from her kitchen. In her final years, as her health declined, it was our privilege to love and care for her. She was a fan of Elvis Presley and The Montreal Canadiens, and she enjoyed her bingo nights. She cherished countless evenings spent with friends at the local halls. The social connections and joy of these gatherings were deeply missed during COVID restrictions. Though the halls eventually reopened, her declining mobility meant these beloved outings remained a cherished memory.

Today she is playing bingo up in heaven's golden halls,

Her face lit up with a radiant, joyful smile.

Cherubs flutter by with daubers in their hands.

Angels announce the numbers with melodious grace

Eyes twinkling with excitement, she marks each number called,

The heavenly hall echoes with laughter and delight,

As old friends and family reunite in this blissful bingo paradise.

In this game, there are no losers, only winners,

For every soul is blessed with eternal joy and peace.

My mom’s laughter rings out, a beautiful melody in this heavenly chorus,

As I imagine her there, I feel warmth, knowing she's found her perfect paradise.

I smile, picturing her heavenly adventures, forever young and carefree in eternity's embrace.

Service was held on December 2nd, 2024, at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, NB.
