In Loving Memory of Mary M. White
1944 – 2024
Mary May White of Miramichi, NB, passed away peacefully at Shannex, Losier Hall on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 79 surrounded by family.
Born in Miscou Island, NB, on May 9, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Gustave McLaughlin and May Brown.
Mary is survived by her children: Sandra (Daniel) Walsh of Stewiake, NS, Steven (Colleen) Hay of St. Louis De Kent, NB, Michael (Karen) Hay of Stratford, ON, Floyd (Chantal) Hay of Miramichi, NB, Brenda (Robert) MacDiarmid of Napan, NB, and Tina (Greg) Cassidy of Douglastown, NB. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren; son-in-law, Clarence Morris of Stratford, ON; brother-in-law, Norman Theriault of Miscou Island, NB; and dear family friend, Susan Gilbert.
She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Hector White; daughter, Kathy Morris; grandsons: David Cassidy, and Johnathon Hay; and sister, Doris Theriault.
In her earlier years Mary was known for making the best homemade bread and always having a line full of clothes, winter or summer. She was very proud of her whites being exceptionally white and sewing outfits for her girls.
Mary took great pride working in the dietary and housekeeping departments at Hotel Dieu and later at the Miramichi Region 7 Hospital while raising her 7 children.
In her later years Mary loved going for long drives and stopping for an ice-cream. She was happiest when she and Hector would take a drive to visit her favorite place on Miscou Island.
Mary’s family would like to thank the staff at Losier Hall, Charis Lynch, NP; and Dr. Arthur Losier for the compassionate care they gave Mary in her last few days. They went over and above to give true comfort to the family.
At Mary's request there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Antoine-de-Padoue Catholic Church on Miscou Island, NB, at a later date. Interment will be in St. Antoine-de-Padoue Catholic Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Percy’s Place, or St. Antoine-de-Padoue Catholic Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
