In Loving Memory of Mathias J. Duplessis

1952 – 2025

Mathias Joseph Duplessis of Miramichi, New Brunswick, and formerly of Baie-Sainte-Anne, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on January 10, 2025, at the age of 72.

Born in Eel River Bridge, New Brunswick, on June 23, 1952, he was the son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Mazerolle) Duplessis.  He worked at the Peat Moss plant and attended Sainte Anne’s Catholic Church.

Mathias is survived by his sister, Rita Adams of Baie-Sainte-Anne, New Brunswick; three brothers: Robert (Lorraine) and Edward (Leoda) of Baie-Sainte-Anne, New Brunswick, and Edgar of Pointe-Sapin, New Brunswick; as well as nieces: Barbara, Joanne, and Cathy; step-niece, Paula; and nephew, Robert.  He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Helen (Thompson) Duplessis; and six brothers: Alphonse, Louis, Philbert, Lionel, Francois, and Lawrence.

At the request of the family, there was no visitation.  Mass of Christian Burial was Celebrated at Sainte-Anne’s Catholic Church, 5351, Route 117, Baie-Sainte-Anne, New Brunswick, on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 4 PM, with The Reverend Father Jean Belisle as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by Sainte-Anne's Catholic Church Choir and the hymns were: "Father, see your child", "Jesus I'm On My Way", "Hallelujah", "One Voice", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art".  The scripture reading was read by Monique Martin, and the Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Julie Mazerolle.  Interment will be in Sainte-Anne’s Catholic Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Sainte-Anne’s Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.
