In Loving Memory of Merrill A. Matchett

1969 – 2024

Merrill Andrew Matchett of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at the Moncton City Hospital on November 27, 2024, at the age of 54.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on December 18, 1969, he was the son of the late Merrill Sr. and Margaret (Spray) Matchett.  Merrill spent many years as a seasonal worker in the oil and gas industry where he made many friends, and was always up to helping someone whenever needed.  He was loved and will be deeply missed.

Merrill is survived by his brothers, John Matchett of Miramichi, NB and Peter Matchett of Nova Scotia; as well as a niece, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents, and sisters: Heather, Sharon, and Shelley.

At Merrill’s request, there will be no visitation.  A graveside service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery on June 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with The Venerable Perry Cooper officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
