Nancy Daley Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Rose Daley on October 14, 2020, at the age of 60. Born in Fontainebleau, France on November 25, 1959, Nancy was the daughter of the late Roger and Rose (Keoughan) Marquis.
Nancy worked as a hostess at the family owned Portage Restaurant for over 20 years. In retirement, it was music, reading, sharing a meal with loved ones and shopping that brought her great joy.
She was selfless and genuine with great integrity and happily put the needs of everyone she loved before her own. Nancy will forever be remembered as an incredible mother and loyal friend, with a great sense of humour and resolute work ethic, who loved her family deeply. She leaves behind many beautiful memories for anyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.
Nancy is survived by her loving partner of 21 years, Emery Perry; her daughter, Jennifer Daley (Kris Girouard); two sisters, Mary MacDonald (Larry) and Cathy Jensen (Don); one brother, Ricky Marquis (Teri Daley); 2 nephews, Ryan MacDonald (Heather) and David Marquis; and 3 nieces, Michelle Marquis, Leah Marquis and Amy Wheaton.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her beloved niece, Mandi Rose MacDonald.
At the request of the family there was no visitation. A private funeral service was held at St. Michael’s Basilica on October 20, 2020 with Father John Keoughan as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by David Bunnell and Paul Gregoire. The hymns were: “Hallelujah”, “The Lord Is My Shepherd”, “Hail Mary: Gentle Woman”, ”Ave Maria”, “Songs Of The Angels” and “Amazing Grace”. The scripture reading was read by Theresa Lloyd and Prayers of Intercession by Elizabeth Hachey. The eulogy was presented by Judy Losier.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca), the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca/en/nb) or a memorial of one’s choice would be appreciated.
