In Loving Memory of Neil Russell Fowlie
1943 - 2023
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Russell Fowlie, husband, father, and grandfather. Neil, a lifelong resident of Little Branch, Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2023, at the age of 79.
Born on May 21, 1943, in Chatham, New Brunswick, Neil was the son of both the late Samuel and May (Gillis) Fowlie. He shared a marriage of 55 years with his wife, Marion (Adams) Fowlie.
Neil dedicated over 30 years of service as a Road Grader for the Department of Transportation. Neil had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, horse hauling, and exploring the countryside by four-wheeler. He was an adherent of St. Stephen’s United Church.
He is survived by his sons, Randy Fowlie and Jamie Fowlie (Cindy), all of Black River Bridge; sister, Lynn Taylor (Ken), also of Black River Bridge; six grandchildren: Sam (Jerica) Fowlie, Brooke Fowlie, Hogan Fowlie, Ruby Fowlie, Raya Fowlie, and Hudson Fowlie; step-grandchildren: Trinity Evenden, Charlie Evenden Jr., and Byron Evenden; and great-granddaughter, Madison Fowlie.
Neil was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and May, and his sisters, Connie Daley and Ruby Foley.
Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King Street, Miramichi, New Brunswick on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service took place on Friday, April 28, 2023, at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's United Church, officiated by The Reverend David Allan. Music leadership was provided by David Mann, the church choir, and Trinity Evenden. The Memorial Candle Lighters were Hogan, Ruby, and Raya Fowlie. The Eulogy was by Cindy Fowlie. The Active Pallbearers were Garth Duffy, Perley Jardine, Kenny Moran, Carl Preston, Darren Taylor, and Gordie Underhill. The Honorary Pallbearers were: Arthur Adams, Raymond Bechard, Sam Fowlie, Bliss MacDonald, Donnie MacDonald, Eddie MacDonald, Jean-Marc Manuel, and Earl Sealy. Interment will follow at a later date in the Black River Community Cemetery.
Donations in Neil's memory may be made to St. Stephen's United Church, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wants to thank Extra-Mural for everything they did for Neil and how easy they made it possible for him to come home.
