Peggy Jane (Malcolm) Stewart of Miramichi, NB, passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on June 30th, 2024, at the age of 63 surrounded by her family.
Born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, on November 24th, 1960, Peggy Jane (Malcolm) Stewart was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Ruby (McDavid) Malcolm.
Peggy is survived by her children: Jeremy Hannah and Amy Hannah, both of Miramichi, and Cody Stewart (Amelia) of Blackville; brother, Gary Malcolm (Audrey) of Edmonton, AB; sisters: Shelley Watling (David), Anne Quann (Teddy), Gina Quann (Eddie), all of Miramichi; grandchildren: Gavin and Jaidalyn Hannah of Miramichi, and Kenzie and Katli Stewart of Blackville. Peggy is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, Lawrence and Ruby Malcolm, Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Gary Stewart; infant brother, Gary Robert, and brother, Larry Malcolm; as well as mother-in-law, Bernice Stewart.
Peggy worked at Sobey’s as a Cashier for the past 17 years, and was recently retired. Above all, she loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and all her animals, especially walking her blessing rescue dog, Finley. She greatly enjoyed her 70’s music, dancing, reading, card games, board games, and sweets. She had a “sweet-tooth”, and loved her sweets! She also loved bonfires, and delighted in any type of get-togethers with her family and friends.
Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM. A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 11 AM, from St. Andrew’s United Church, 188 Wellington St., Miramichi, with The Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Organist for the service was Lois McKinnon. Special music, "How Great Thou Art" and "Hallelujah" was sung by Amelia Underhill. Also recorded music was played "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton and "See You Again" by Carrie Underwood. The lighting of the memory candle was done by grandchildren: Gavin, Jaidalyn, Kenzie and Katli. A poem "A Limb Has Fallen from the Family Tree" was read by grandson, Gavin Hannah and remembrances were shared by brothers-in-law: Eddie Quann, Ted Quann and David Watling Scripture readings were read by sister, Gina Quann and brother-in-law, Eddie Quann. Interment will occur in Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
The pallbearers were Chris Watling, Todd Craik, Charles Beaudin, Kris Jardine, Jamie Quann and Stephen Trevors. Honorary pallbearers were Joey Berkvens, Linda Beaudin, Sandi Stewart, Jennifer Hachey, Jake Hannah, Erika Corcoran, Chris & Natalie Corcoran, Wendy & Stephen Cripps, Rachel Plourde, Mary-Ruth Kensley-Blanchard, Connor Nowlan, Madison Worrell, Sherry Murdock, Manon McGraw, Gail Davis, Gail MacDonald, Sherry Trevors, Nicole Walsh, Shelley Buckley, Paula Robichaud and Helen Keenan. Also a large group from Sobeys in Douglastown sat as a body to form a guard of honour after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Miramichi SPCA or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
