In Loving Memory of Raymond D. MacKnight

1940 – 2025

 

Sadly, we announce the sudden passing of Raymond David MacKnight on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 85.

 

Born in Napan, New Brunswick, on November 26, 1940, he was the son of the late Cecil and Irma (Turbide) MacKnight.

 

Raymond worked as a painter all of his life.  He was known for his love of hunting, fishing and his social nature like story telling, dancing and playing cards.  He was a long-time member of AA for over 38 years.  Raymond will be remembered for his steady hands, kind heart and the warmth he shared so freely.  His love of family, laughter and the simple joys of life will continue to echo through the generations he leaves behind.

 

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 17 wonderful years, Beryl (Cabel) MacKnight; three daughters: Sharon Thibeault (Marc), Raelene MacKnight and Heather Hinchey (Kevin); one son, Paul MacKnight; his children half-sisters: Barbara and Jo-Anne Duplessis; six grandchildren: Matthew, Josh, Fabien, Samantha, Elyse and Celine; three great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Henry and Sadie; two sisters-in-law: Sandra MacKnight and Joyce MacKnight; two brothers-in-law: Elmer MacDonald and Les Halman; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, sisters: Marie (Scotty) Crawford, Anna MacDonald, Phyliss (Ted) Johnson and Winnifred (Winnie) Halman, brothers: Joey and Leonard MacKnight.

 

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, New Brunswick on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, New Brunswick on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 11:00 am with The Reverend Father Antonio Reyes as Celebrant.  Interment will be in St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery later in the spring.

 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
