Rena McLean Obituary

Rena A. B. McLean

   1938 – 2020

It is with broken hearts that the family announces the sudden death of their mother Rena Agnes Blanche McLean after an unfortunate injury on May 31, 2020 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 81.

Born in Blackville, NB on June 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Everett and Goldie Colford.  Right after school she moved to Chatham where she started work, met her husband Billy and raised her two children Joey and Allison.

Rena was well known in Chatham working for many years at Joe’s Diner as the Friendliest Cook and Waitress and also she worked 30 years for Heather Maynes.

Rena was a beautiful person with the biggest smile, always laughing and making peoples day.  She was an extremely caring, thoughtful and loving generous mom.  She was a dear friend to many around Chatham, always looking out for others more than herself.  Mom had a great faith.  Her family made her very proud.  All she talked about were her grandchildren Alicia and Ashley.

Rena is survived by her daughter, Allison Simmie of Miramichi; her son Joey McLean (Germaine) of Bouctouche; her two grandchildren: Alicia and Ashley Simmie and their father Darren; two sisters Minnie Hollier (Junior) and Annie Colford; one brother Jimmy Colford all from Blackville; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents, husband Billy McLean, two sisters: Dorothy McCormack (Malcolm) and Marlene Yerxa (Mike), two brothers Floyd and Alfred Colford.

The family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Medical Staff who tended to Rena for their love and kindness at the Emergency Room the night she passed.

Due to the Current Health Crisis, there will be a service held at a later date.  Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Diabetes Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.  Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492 or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
