In Loving Memory of Reta I. Godfrey

1931 – 2024

Reta Isabel (Taylor) Godfrey of Miramichi and formerly of Napan, passed away at Shannex, Losier Hall on January 19, 2024, at the age of 92.

Born in Price Settlement, NB, on June 22, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Harriett (Price) Taylor.  She was the last surviving member of her family.

Mum worked at Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home for many years.  She was an adherent of St. Andrew’s United Church, a member of St. Andrew’s U.C.W., Napan W.I. and Branch #61 Royal Canadian Legion in Neguac.

Reta is survived by her two daughters: Gloria (Billy) of Napan and Roxanne of Miramichi; two granddaughters: Jackie (Kenny) and Angie (Rob); and one great-grandson, Evan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents; husband, J. Perley Godfrey; sisters: Annie, Ella, Marjorie and Wilda; and brothers: Ernest, Walter, Mark and Frank.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 6-8 PM.  A Funeral Service was held at Adams Funeral Home Chapel, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 11 AM with Mrs. Evelyn Taylor as Officiant.  Music for the service included congregational singing to both "In the Garden" record music by Anne Murrary, and "Softly and Tenderly" recorded music by Alan Jackson.  The recessional was recorded piano instrumental "Hallelujah" by Attila Fias.  Words of Remembrance were spoken by Mrs. Evelyn Taylor.  The Active Pallbearers were:  Mark Chapman, Rob LeBlanc, Brian Gillis, Rylin Flaherty, Jill Flaherty, and Shasta Hosford.  Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery later in the spring.

The family would like to thank the staff at Losier Hall for the care they gave Reta.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Pine Grove Cemetery, Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
