Richard (Robby) Robertson Obituary

In Loving Memory of Richard (Robby) Robertson

1935 – 2024

Richard Ernest “Robby/Robbie/Dickie” Robertson of Halifax, NS, and formerly of Miramichi, NB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS, on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at the age of 89.

Born in Windsor, NS, on January 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ellen (Bartlett) Robertson.  He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force for 35 dedicated years. He built a loving home in Miramichi with his late wife Clora Mary “Wee Wee” Robertson, where they spent their retirement years. He enjoyed helping others, always sharing his ability to build or fix just about anything. Robby was endlessly curious, continuously learning new skills and taking up new hobbies. He held a great appreciation for the outdoors, from tending to his extensive vegetable and flower garden, to spending time at the camp, fishing and hunting. He also attended and volunteered with St. Michael’s Basilica. He was a devoted husband, father, community member, and grandad; he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by daughter, Karen Hanna (Paul Hanna); sons: Gary Robertson (Nancy Robertson) and Stephen Robertson (late Linda Robertson); grandchildren: Sarah Robertson, Jenna Robertson, Claire Robertson, Rachel Hanna and Luke Hanna; sisters: Carolyn Folker (Wayne Folker) and Joan Fredericks (late Norm Fredericks); brother, Joseph “Joe” Robertson (Joan Robertson); sister-in-law Theresa Doucette (late Fred Doucette); brothers-in-law: Raymond “Bim” Skidd (late Louella Skidd), and David Skidd (Gena Skidd), as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; loving wife Wee Wee; two brothers: James “Jimmy” Robertson (Barb Robertson) and John “Johnny” Robertson (Shirley Robertson); sister-in-law Catherine “Kay” Bianchi (late George Bianchi); and brother-in-law Francis “Frank” Skidd (Dana Skidd).

As per Richard’s “Robby's” request, there was no visitation.  A Funeral Mass was celebrated at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, NB, on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 11 AM, with The Reverend Father Antonio Reyes as Celebrant.  Music for the service was by Pianist, Eric Skinner, and Soloist, Theresa Doucette.  The Eulogy was presented by Paul Hanna.  The First Scripture Reading was read by Jenna Robertson, The Second Scripture Reading was read by Sarah Robertson. Interment was in St. Michael’s Cemetery. A reception for all followed at the Parish Hall, St. Michael's Basilica.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., Miramichi, NB; telephone (506) 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
