Roberta E. Bass
1934 – 2020
Roberta Edna Bass of Miramichi, passed away at Losier Hall-Shannex, on November 20, 2020, at the age of 86.
Born in Chatham, on January 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Jennison and Anna (Lobban) Bremner. She was an employee of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home for many years; a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, and was part of the U.C.W., Session, Choir, and was an Elder, and CGIT Leader. She was also a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 Auxiliary. She loved to volunteer with the Miramichi Folksong Festival, Miramichi Tourism, and received a volunteering award from the City of Miramichi.
Roberta is survived by her one daughter, Melanie Facey of Miramichi; two sons: Hudson (Theresa) and Derrick (Lori Anne) all of Saint John; five grandchildren: Riley, Ryan, Caden, MacKayla, and Gregory; as well as several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents.
By request, there was no visitation. A private funeral service was held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 188 Wellington Street, Miramichi, NB, with The Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight as Officiant. Music for the service was provided by Organist, Lois McKinnon, and Choir Members: Sally Donald, Elaine Dickson, and John Bosma. The hymns were: “Here I Am, Lord”, “In the Garden”, and “Go Now in Peace”. A special musical piece “Remember Me” was sung by Susan Butler with Barb Somers as piano accompaniment. Lighting of the Memory Candle was by Carol Anne Smythe, and Words of Remembrance were spoken by Barbara Doucet. Scriptures were read by Debbie Stymiest and Caden Bass. Interment was held in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donald Lobban, David Lobban, Charles Lobban, Bill Row, David Smythe and Paul Rose.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church, Riverside Cemetery, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
