In Loving Memory of Roger Goguen

1929 – 2024

Roger Joseph Vincent Goguen of Miramichi, NB, passed away at his residence on October 6, 2024, at the age of 95.

Born in Richibucto, NB, on May 17, 1929, he was the son of the late Sylvian and Leona (Vautour) Goguen.  Roger was a Painter at CFB Chatham for many years.  He was a member of St. Michael’s Basilica.  He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, going fishing, digging clams, playing crib and darts. and also doing puzzles.  He was the best smelt fryer ever and he had a true love and passion for all his family.

Roger is survived by five daughters: Theresa Wylde (Dave) of Miramichi, Margaret Thibodeau (Marcel) of Eel Ground, NB, Kathy Sterner (Brian) of Fort McMurray, AB, Donna Bourque (Reg) of Miramichi, and Diana Nowlan (James) of Napan, NB; one son, Keith Goguen (Tina) of Lakeville, NB; fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Annette Hewey of Hamilton, ON; and one brother, Yvon (Ivon) Goguen of Moncton, NB; three step-daughters: Viola Fleiger (Pat) of Miramichi, Linda Greco of BC, and Christine Murray (Kenneth) of Moncton, NB; five step-sons: Walter Cormier (Colleen) of Miramichi, Yvon Cormier of Miramichi, Roger Cormier of AB, Tommy Cormier (Cheryl) of Miramichi, and Peter Cormier (Penny) of AB; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents; first wife, May; second wife, Ann; daughter, Doris; sisters: Emalda, Alfreda, Rita, Doris, and Mary; as well as brothers: Tim, Leo, and Bernard.

As per Roger’s request, there was no visitation.  A Graveside Service was held at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Miramichi, NB, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father David Rioux as Celebrant.

The family would like to thank the Miramichi Extra-Mural Program for all the support, kindness, care, and love they have provided. Roger could not have been in a more beautiful place as home with his family during his final days.
