Roland Perley

1932 – 2023

Roland Perley of Miramichi, passed away peacefully at Losier Hall, Shannex on February 10, 2023, at the age of 91.

Born in Middle Island, on January 23, 1932, he was the son of Francis Perley.  He attended St. Andrew’s United Church.

Rolly was predeceased by his mother, Francis Perley.  Rolly lived with his mother Francis and her brother Roy near Middle Island.  Upon his mother’s death he moved in with close family friends, Fred & Ethel Goulette.  He lived a full and independent life, he loved long walks around town and socializing with friends along the way.  He had a strong love for animals of all kinds but dogs and horses were his favourite.

In 2004, Rolly moved to Mount St Joseph Nursing Home and then later to Losier Hall. He settled in and thrived.  He took part in most activities especially bowling where he earned medals and even a trophy!  He enjoyed attending Mass and had a strong faith. He loved going out on the day trips provided and he formed many close friendships with other residents and staff.

Everyone who knew Rolly knows how much he loved music.  He always made sure to have a front row seat for any live music events provided and his radio in his room was constantly playing.

Rolly was easy going and had a great sense of humour. He was a kind soul with the biggest heart and he made the world a better place.  Rolly will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Thursday, February 16th, 2023, from 1-2 PM and funeral service followed from Adams Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM with The Reverend Geza Szemok officiating.  Music for the service was recorded music and the songs were "Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone" by Chris Tomlin, "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley and "Take me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver.

Pallbearers were Darren McCormack, Jaxon McCormack, Dale Stewart and Kevin Lewis.  Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi SPCA or donor’s choice would be appreciated.
