Ronald R. Blakely
1945 - 2022
Ronald Raymond Blakely, husband of Phyllis (Carroll) Blakely of Miramichi, passed away at Losier Hall, Miramichi on April 2, 2022, at the age of 76.
Born in Napan, on December 26, 1945, he was the son of the late George W. and Florence Blakely. He started Ron’s Taxi many years ago and later went on to be a delivery truck driver for Gray’s Velvet Ice Cream in Campbellton, and later worked 25 years at Northumberland Co-op in Miramichi. He was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church and enjoyed being a part of the church choir and men’s breakfast. Ron had a true love and passion for music and playing guitar that was passed down to both sons.
Ron is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Carroll) Blakely; two sons: Jody Blakely (Janice) of Grand Bay-Westfield, and Bradley Blakely (Michelle) of Napan; two granddaughters: Mira and Georgia; one sister, Myrtle Bryan of Ontario; and one brother, Percy Blakely of Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents; granddaughter, Olivia; one brother, Bernie (Peggy), and two sisters: Shirley (James) and Bertha.
By the request of the family there was no visitation. A PRIVATE funeral service occurred at St. Mary’s Anglican Church with The Ven. Perry Cooper officiating, assisted by The Rev. Canon Sandy MacPherson, The Rev. Ted Quann, The Rev. Eddie Quann and Karen Furlotte. The music for the service was provided by Ted Lynch and the hymns were "Go Rest High", "Amazing Grace", Beyond the Sunset" and the recessional hymn was "God of the Mountain". The scripture readings were read by Karen Furlotte and Murray MacDonald. Interment will be in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery later in the spring.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the War Amps CHAMP Program or Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated by the family.
