Rose Mary Hay R.N., wife of James Hay of Napan, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, March 1, 2021 at the age of 74
Born in Newcastle, on June 1, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Rosella (Flaherty) Hallihan. She was an R.N for about 30 years and worked in many hospitals and nursing homes across the country. She was Catholic by faith.
She is survived by her husband, James Hay of 54 years; one daughter Melanie MacAulay (Michael) of Miramichi; one son Devlin Hay of Napan; five grandchildren: Kristen, Ashley, Matthew, Reid and Lane; six great-grandchildren: Ryan, Mason, Landon, Maddison, Indica and Daytona; one sister, Mary-Alice Hooper (David) of Back Bay, NB; two brothers: John Hallihan (Glenna) and Dwain Hallihan (Kathy) all of Renous, NB; one aunt Josie Boyd of Miramichi and one uncle, Floyd Flaherty of ON. She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers: Patrick and Earl.
There was no visitation by request. A PRIVATE Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, March 5, 2021, from Bishop Roger’s Chapel (St. Michael’s Basilica) with Father Dass, and Father Dan Bastarache as Celebrants. Music for the service was provided by Sarah Manderville and Zack Sullivan, and the hymns were: “How Great Thou Art”, “The Lord is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want”, “Glory and Praise”, “Gentle Woman”, “Here I Am Lord, Be Not Afraid”, “Songs of the Angels”, and the processional hymn was “On Eagle’s Wings”. The scripture readings were read by Kathy Hallihan and Reid MacAulay, and the Prayer of the Faithful was presented by Kathy Hallihan.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Miramichi or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
