Rosemarie Rigley
1949 – 2021
Rosemarie Rigley, wife of William Rigley of Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on May 17, 2021, at the age of 71.
Born in Newcastle, on July 18, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Basile and Rosalie (Curry) Losier, both of whom predeceased her. Besides her husband, Bill, Rosemarie is survived by one brother, Michel Losier of Ottawa, ON; two sisters-in-law: Elaine Wallace (Bill) of NS, and Patricia Carroll (Gerry) of Miramichi; one nephew, Michael Wallace of Calgary, AB; two nieces: Jennifer Carroll Jardine of Miramichi, and Allison Carroll of Medicine Hat, AB. She was also survived by many cousins, as well as a special aunt, Jeanne Losier of Tracadie.
Rosemarie taught school for thirty-four years, at CFB Chatham, Harkins Middle School, and Croft Elementary. She taught French Immersion, as well as French as a second language. She was a member of MARTA, the CWL, and the Santa Maria Group, and attended St. Michael’s Basilica.
By request there was no visitation. A public Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 11AM, with Father John Keoughan as Celebrant. Music for the service was provided by Jacqueline Allain. The songs were: "The Lord is my Shepard", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", "Ava Maria", "One Bread, One Body", and "Songs of the Angels". The eulogy was presented by Cil Hickey. The First Reading was read by Merle Milson, and the Second Reading was read by Patricia Boucher. Prayers of the Faithful were read by Astrid Miousse. The Honourary Pallbearers were: Mona Aubrey, Patricia Boucher, Nancy Blackmore, Maria Brown, Cil Hickey, Lynne LeClair, Esther Mahoney, Corinne Malley, Gina Matheson, Merel Milson, and Astrid Miousse. Interment will be held in St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date.
As per COVID-19 regulations, facemasks and social distancing were adhered to. Attendance at the funeral was registered upon entrance.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Salvation Army, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to thank the staff, over the years, on 2 West, and, of late, the Palliative Care Unit of Miramichi Regional Hospital. That thanks also extends to the Doctors and Staff of the Oncology and Cardiac Care Units of the Saint John Regional Hospital.
A very special note of appreciation must go to Dr. Jill Watts who was a caring tower of strength for Rosemarie, especially over these last ten years.
