Sally (Stephenson) Davidson
May 16, 1929 – August 4, 2020
Sally Jean Davidson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4th, 2020, at the age of 91.
She was the widow of the late James Colin Davidson of Plaster Rock, NB and a resident of Losier Hall in Miramichi, NB.
Born in Chatham on May 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Stewart) Stephenson. She was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Miramichi and spent her life cheerfully serving the Lord she so loved, taking part in Church activities wherever she lived.
Sally loved people and history and was an eager student of all things genealogy. Upon being introduced to anyone, she was eager to learn who their “people” were and where they were from. In this regard, she researched and wrote two books: “Family Ties”, the history of the Stephenson family, and “James Davidson: A History”. She was also an avid reader and collector.
Mom loved life and had a heart of joy, always living her days to the fullest. Whether it was antiquing or yard saling, a child’s birthday, or a spontaneous get-together, she was the happiest when serving others and liked nothing better than to open her home to entertain. In her day, she did beautiful needlework and together with Dad, was gifted at refinishing furniture. Her home was a humble reflection of their travels, interests, and family. She was enthusiastic about everything, especially that which involved her grandchildren.
The heart of our family, she will be forever missed by her daughter, Elizabeth Wallace (Steven), daughter-in-law, Lorraine Parent-Davidson, and the grandchildren whom she adored: Christopher (Stephanie), Stephen (Alexandra), and Kimberly Davidson, Katie Wallace and Blake Berube.
She was predeceased by her son, James Clarke Davidson, in 1995; her husband, James Colin Davidson, in 2001, and her daughter, Margaret Ann Davidson, in 2016. She was the last surviving member of her immediate (Stephenson) family, having just lost her youngest sister Mae Morehouse, on July 11, 2020.
A special thank you is extended to the Mount St. Joseph/Losier Hall staff for the incredible care they took of Sally (and her family). Over the last two years, we have been enveloped in warmth, companionship, humour and love.
At the family’s request, there will be no visitation. A private family service was held at the Riverside Cemetery, Miramichi, NB on Sunday August 9, 2020 with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight and Rev. Willard Watling officiating. The music for the service was provided by Jennifer Maillet who played the Bag Pipes and the hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace”.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the IWK Children’s Hospital, the Miramichi SPCA, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, telephone (506) 773-3492 or messages of condolence may be sent online to www.adamsfh.ca
