In Loving Memory of Shirley Helen Rita Trevors
1947 – 2024
Shirley Helen Rita Trevors of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at her family homestead on March 30th, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on June 2nd, 1947, Shirley Helen Rita Trevors was the daughter of the late Dudley and Edith (McLaughlin) Trevors.
Shirley was formally educated as a School Teacher. She graduated from New Brunswick Teacher’s College in Fredericton and taught for many years in the Miramichi area as both a School Teacher and Educational Assistant, retiring in later years from King St. Elementary School. Shirley was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, an active member of the Anglican Church Women, and was always willing to volunteer and help with various fund-raising projects and to serve at the various annual church suppers at either St. Mary’s or St. Paul’s. She was President of the Archdeaconry of Miramichi/Chaleur from 2019-2022. Shirley will be remembered for her quick wit, her generosity, and her love of a good debate, especially political. Shirley was former member of Miramichi Singles Group and was quick to sign up for a day trip or outing-perhaps going to Masstown, NS, or a boat excursion. She hosted gatherings at her home for friendly board games and card games where good times were had and she was known as the “life of the party”. Above all, Shirley loved her family dearly; recently visiting her children and grandchildren who lived away.
Shirley is survived by her two sons: Steven Bitto of Edmonton, AB (former daughter-in-law Heather Neustaedter), and Mark Bitto (Teri Lin Irvine) of Spruce Grove, AB; daughter, Lisa Bitto of Ottawa, ON; brother; Reggie Trevors (Sue) of Miramichi; sister, Marlene Fraser (Kenny) of New Zion, NB; grandchildren: Alexander, Kate, Taylor, Heath, Rowan, Esme, and Isla; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband and father of her children, Helmut Bitto; sister, Marilyn Trevors; and brother, Daryl Trevors.
A Celebration of Life at St. Mary’s Anglican Church will occur at a later date. Interment will occur in St. Paul’s Cemetery also at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Anglican Parish of Chatham, or St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB; telephone (506) 773-3492. Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
