In Loving Memory of Stella Gilliss

1932 – 2025

Stella Marie (Cabel) Gilliss of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Mount St. Joseph on August 30, 2025, at the age of 93.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on August 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Smith) Cabel.  She was a Homemaker and attended Carmel United Church when she was able.

Stella is survived by three daughters: Brenda MacIntosh (Jim), and Sharon Savoy (late David), both of Miramichi, New Brunswick, and Valerie Brennan (Blair) of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick; five grandchildren: Nicole, Stacey, Amy, Elizabeth, and Darren; four great-grandchildren: Savana, Becky, Clair, and Maxime; two sisters: Grace Cook (late Joe) of Elliott Lake, Alberta, and Beryl MacKnight (Raymond) of Napan, New Brunswick; one brother, Don Cabel (June) of Napan, New Brunswick; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Andrew Gilliss; two sisters: Jean MacKnight and Gladys Hackett; and three brothers: Kenneth (Bud), Vince, and Billy Cabel.

At the request of the family, there was no visitation.  A graveside service was held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Miramichi, New Brunswick on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with The Reverend Keith Carter officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
