In Loving Memory of Stella Mary (Robichaud) Matthews

1946 – 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Stella Mary (Robichaud) Matthews, wife of the late Robert Matthews of Miramichi, NB, announce her passing on July 6, 2024, at the age of 78.

Born in Inkerman, NB, on May 9, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Malvina (Power) Robichaud.

She will be lovingly remembered her two daughters, Juanita (Shaun) O'Reilly of Miramichi, NB, and Lori (Jean-Guy) Boulay of Quispamsis, NB; two sons, Jason Matthews of Belleville, ON, and David Matthews of Quispamsis, NB; one granddaughter, Allison O'Reilly of Montreal, QC; sisters, Gloria Robichaud of Miramichi, NB, Amelia Watts of Moncton, NB, Cecilia Gould (John) of Hamilton, ON, and Rita Doiron (late Maurice), Miramichi, NB; as well as one brother; Wilfred Robichaud, Napan, NB.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Matthews; brother, Charles Robichaud; brother-in-law, Maurice Doiron; and beloved grandson, Tyler O'Reilly.

As per Stella’s request, there was no visitation.  A Funeral Mass and Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, July 12th, 2024, at 11 AM, from St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, with The Reverend Father Antonio Reyes as Celebrant.  Music for the service was provided by Mr. David Bunnell and the hymns were: "Be Not Afraid", "Rest In God Alone", "Like A Shepherd", "Taste and See", and "Songs of the Angels", with the recessional hymn being "Into Your Hands".  The scripture readings were read by Jean-Guy Boulay, and Shaun O'Reilly.  The Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Shaun O'Reilly.   Interment followed in St. Michael’s Cemetery.       

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Sandra Dawn Conroy Scholarship would be appreciated by the family.
