Susan D. Mather Obituary

In Loving Memory of Susan D. Mather

1955 – 2025

With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you of the passing of Susan Dawn Mather, on January 11, 2025, loving partner of Raymond Ellis for 34 years.

Born in Chatham, New Brunswick, on September, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Eleanor Mather.

She worked at CFB Chatham, and then Service Canada until her retirement at the age of 60.

She is survived by Raymond; brother, Scott Mather (Paula Marie); and sister, Sandra Black (Tom); sisters-in-law: Nonie Malley, Donna Robichaud, and Shirley Smith; and special niece, Robin; and also sisters by choice, Shirley Manderson, and Barbara Parsons.

Her pride and joy were her nephews and nieces whom she loved dearly: Andy Barrieau (Stacey), Adam Barrieau (Fernando), Annie Rickard (Justin), and Shawn Mather and their children: Paige and Ryan Barrieau, and Cash and Charlie Rickard.

She is lovingly remembered by her many cousins, friends, and neighbors.

Susan was a strong-willed woman who loved life, travel and shopping (which she did a lot of), and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and didn’t often miss a chance to celebrate with them.  She was always the first to arrive with a helping hand for any need.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, NB, on Thursday evening, January 16, 2025, from 7-9 PM, and also on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 2-4 PM, and 7-9 PM.  Funeral service was held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 750 Water St., Miramichi, NB, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11 AM, with The Venerable Perry Cooper, The Reverend Canon Sandy MacPherson, and The Reverend Eddie Quann as Officiants.  The Lay Reader was Holly Gallant.  Music for the service was provided by Dinah Horsman and the church choir.  The hymns were:  "In The Garden" (a duet by Richard Walsh and Barb Parsons), "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace", "Because He Lives", with the recessional hymns being "On a Hill Far Away", and "Go Rest High on the Mountain".  A tribute was delivered by Helena Waye.  Memories were shared by Paige Barrieau and Annie Rickard. The first scripture reading was read by Nonie Malley.  The second scripture reading was read by Vonda Hare.  The Active Pallbearers were:  Andrew Barrieau, Adam Barrieau, Ryan Barrieau, Paige Barrieau, Shawn Mather, and Annie Rickard.  A special Guard of Honor was formed by Susan's friends.  A luncheon welcoming all was served in the church basement.  Interment will be in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, NB, telephone (506) 773-3492.  Additionally, messages of condolence may be shared online at www.adamsfh.ca
