Walter S. MacDonald

     1942 – 2023

Walter Stephen MacDonald, husband of Bernadette (Brennan) MacDonald of Black River Bridge, New Brunswick, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on March 15, 2023, at the age of 81.

Born in Black River Bridge, on February 20, 1942, he was the son of the late Duncan and Georgina (Jardine) MacDonald.  He was a Porter Operator for Bob Lamkey and then J&S Lumber Company until retirement.  He loved attending music jams with Bernadette every chance he had.

Walter is survived by his wife Bernadette (Brennan) MacDonald; four daughters: Debbie Martin (Robert) of Miramichi, Beverly Hogan (Dana) of Gray Rapids, Vickie Dignam (Jeff) of Black River Bridge, and Aimee Olsen (Michael) of Miramichi; seven grandchildren: Matthew (Karen), Danny, Kayla (Ryan), Jordan (Bridget), Dylan, Skylar (Samantha) and Devon; five great-grandchildren: Marshall, Paige, Piper, Carter, and Brynlee; one brother, Perley MacDonald (Del) of Medicine Hat, AB; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Lila; and brothers: Eldon, Ben, Lee, and Henry.

Visitation occurred at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 2-4 PM, and funeral service followed at 4 PM from Adams Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brent Carter officiating.  Music for the service was recorded music and the songs were "How Great Thou Art" sung by Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill, "Go Rest High on that Mountain" sung by Vince Gill, "Stroll Over Heaven With You" sung by Allan Jackson and the recessional was "Jealous of the Angels" sung by Donna Toggart.  Honorary pallbearers were Neil Brennan, Murdock Brennan, Skylar Olsen, Dylan Dignam, Devon Dignam and Ryan Richard.  Pallbearers were Jeff Dignam, Robert Martin, Michael Olsen, Dana Hogan, Matthew MacDonald and Jordan Manuel.    Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Diabetes Canada, Alzheimer Society of NB, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
