In Loving Memory of William “Bill” Joseph Duplessis
1938 – 2023
William “Bill” Joseph Duplessis, husband of Lucy (Walker) Duplessis of Glenwood, New Brunswick, passed away at Percy’s Place, Miramichi, on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, at the age of 84.
Born in Baie Sainte Anne, New Brunswick, on November 2nd, 1938, Bill was the son of both the late Alexander and Eva (Manuel) Duplessis.
Bill was a Welder Mechanic for Midland Universal for many years. He had a gregarious, outgoing and jovial personality and was full of fun. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3, and volunteered for years distributing poppies with the poppy campaign. Bill was also very musical, and could play the mandolin, guitar, and upright bass, often attending music jams with friends. He was a handy-man who was very creative. Bill was also outdoorsy and drove a motorcycle for many years. He was also an avid curler. He will be fondly remembered for the loving person he was.
Bill is survived by his wife, Lucy; daughters: Marie Hoenow, Tina Duplessis, Susan Papageorgiou, Shelley Pitts, and Krista Christensen; son, Steen Christensen; sisters: Emma MacDonald, Louisa Mersereau (David), and Theresa Harris; brothers: Norman Duplessis, and Emile Duplessis (Carol); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Bill is predeceased by his son, Cory Duplessis; sister, Giselle Duce; and brother, Isreal Duplessis.
Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Thursday, October 26th, 2023, from 2:00 PM-3:45 PM. A Legion service occurred prior to the visitation. A funeral service followed the same day from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel at 4 PM, with The Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight as Officiant. Music for the service was provided by Darren and Dawn MacDonald. The songs were: "The River" and a recording of "Go Now in Peace". Words of Remembrance were spoken by Tanya Duplessis and Agni Papageorgiou. A reception followed at the funeral home. Interment will occur at a later date in the Black River Community Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Percy’s Place Inc., Royal Canadian Legion Branch #3, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
