In Loving Memory of William “Billy” Fleiger

1948 – 2024

William Joseph “Billy” Fleiger, husband of Debbie Fleiger of Miramichi, New Brunswick, passed away at Percy’s Place on March 5, 2024, at the age of 75.

Born in Chatham, on March 19, 1948, he was the son of the late Colin and Alice (Breau) Fleiger.  Billy worked for the Department of Transportation as a Road Supervisor for 40 years.  He was also a Miramichi City Councillor for 8 years.  He attended St. Michael’s Basilica.

Billy is survived by his wife, Debbie (MacDonald) Fleiger; two sons: Robbie Fleiger (Jennifer), and Ryan Fleiger (Tasha), all of Miramichi; three grandchildren: Brody, Madison, and Jayde; one sister, Colleen Stewart (Tim) of Elmsville, NB; two brothers: David Fleiger and Pat Fleiger (Viola), all of Miramichi; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Gerald.

Visitation was held at Adams Funeral Home, 140 King St., Miramichi, on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 4-8 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Michael’s Basilica, 10 Howard St., Miramichi, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11 AM with The Reverend Father David Rioux as Celebrant.  Music ministry for the service was provided by Organist, David Bonnell, Guitarist and Vocalist, Sonny Newman, and Soloist, Dawn Patterson.  The hymns included gathering song "Here I am Lord", "Amazing Grace", and "Be Not Afraid".  The communion song was "Monsters", with the recessional hymn being "Even Though I'm Leaving".  Words of Remembrance were spoken by Father John Keoughan.  The First Reading was read by Colleen Fleiger Stewart.  The Second Reading was read by Pamela Fletcher.  Prayers of the Faithful were proclaimed by Rose Spray.  The Honorary Pallbearers were:  Paul Burns, Gerald Comeau, Willy Dean, Sharon Hallihan, Brian King, Hilaire Manuel, Tara Ross-Robinson, Wayne Smallwood, and Kendall Vickers.  A reception followed in the Parish Center.  Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery later in the spring.
