Winifred Eileen (Bell) Blackmore
1928 – 2020
Winnie Blackmore, widow of Perry Blackmore passed away at Losier Hall Miramichi, on Thursday April 23, 2020 at the age of 91.
Born in Chatham, NB on September 8, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Eileen (Williston) Bell. She worked for 28 years at Simpson Sears, from 1956 until her semi-retirement in 1984. After that she worked several years with “We Care” as a caregiver. Winnie will be most remembered for being a kind, generous and thoughtful person who was always the first to offer help in any situation. She had many life-long friends and family to attest to that.
She leaves behind her sister Rhona Ickringill (Pete) of British Columbia; step-daughter, Susan (Reg) Fowlie; step-son, Davey (Peggy) Blackmore; niece Keri (Claude) Gorman; nephew David (Cheryl) Bell; several other nieces, nephews and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, sister, Jean Huck, brothers: Clarence, Frank and Maurie Bell.
We would like to thank the fantastic staff of Mount St. Joseph who showed so much care and patience in helping Winnie make the transition from her fierce independence to her new life in a nursing home. The care and compassion of the staff especially on Brennan and Barry Court and also the recreation dept. as she then settled into Losier Hall. For this we are grateful. Thank You
At Winnie’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be held at the Boom Road Presbyterian Cemetery and private family prayers will be held at the graveside at a later date with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating.
